Crafted from solid cast iron, the Match Striker is surprisingly dense and serves as a nice anchor against which to create a spark. The exterior surface features a deep knurling pattern, which provides the necessary friction to bring it all together.
Note: Works only with strike anywhere matches (not included). Matches will leave residue after use, which can be easily removed with a damp cloth.

This is beautiful, but it REQUIRES "strike anywhere" matches which are now illegal to buy in 7 states due to how hot they burn and can cause injury to people. The most notable thing about this match striker is just how heavy it is. So incredibly dense and I love the feel of it in your hand. You do need to get strike anywhere matches because the surface is not rough enough to light a regular match. You can find them at ACE hardware but surprisingly not on Amazon. The knurled surface provides just enough friction to light the strike anywhere matches so maybe the one minor gripe is the knurling could stand to be a touch rougher. Still, it's a premium product that will last forever.

I provided a review over a year ago (see the match striker on the yellow felt coaster) and even bought a second one! The problem is, I put the first one in the bathroom and over time, as I've used to to light matches to get rid of odor, I've noticed that moisture has rusted the match striker over time. It's a great product, but just know that moisture will slow degrade the quality of this product. Note that the one in my living room is totally fine because it's a more dry atmosphere. Just figured this might help out some of y'all when making a purchase decision!
